Why POLAND?

  • Poland is one of the largest countries of Eastern Europe, comparable in size to Italy or Germany, located in the Central European time zone. The number of its citizens is estimated at approximately 38 million.
  • Poland is a country with an established system of democratic government, with a rich history, huge cultural heritage and beautiful landscapes, fauna and flora. In May 2004 Poland joined the European Union.
  • Poland has a rich culture. The lifestyle and mentality of Polish people have been shaped for over a thousand years. National culture originated both under the influence of tradition of the Latin, as well as Byzantine worlds - as a result of a dialogue of nationalities living in Poland. Polish people welcomed other creators and were interested in achievements of other nations. In the 19th and 20th centuries cultural activity replaced political and economical activity to many Poles. Probably this is why Polish creativity is so varied and full of details.

Why WARSAW?

  • The capital of Poland is a dynamically developing city, where you will meet open and friendly people. Warsaw has been notoriously tried by history, but after a period of social-economical changes it has become an inspiring place to live and learn.
  • Currently it is the largest centre of higher education, where among 1,65 million citizens of the city, approximately 300 000 of them are students.
  • Warsaw is the centre of economical, political and cultural life of Poland. The city's location in a central point of Europe makes it an important communication and transport centre. Warsaw in numbers: 305 libraries, 56 museums, 114 galleries, 82 parks, 1518 historical buildings.
  • Warsaw is a place where everyone will find something interesting for himself or herself. Within a year you can take part in many film and theatre premieres, as well as music festivals. Warsaw is a city that never sleeps. In the evening you can visit one of the pubs or dance clubs.

The UNIVERSITY

The School's premises, since 2001, is the Palace of Culture and Science, located in the heart of the city, on the junction of two main city's arteries: Marszalkowska and Aleje Jerozolimskie, just next to the Central Railway Station and the underground station, tram stops and bus garages, in a close proximity to the Old Town and the King's High Road: Krakowskie Przedmiescie, Nowy Swiat and Aleje Ujazdowskie.

Inside the Palace there are numerous cultural and scientific institutions: theatres, cinemas, museums, branches of Polish Sciences Academy, concert halls, a swimming pool and educational-artistic institutions, presenting a rich offer that fills free time of children and young people. Restaurants, cafés, clubs and bars, together with a large parking lot around the Palace, create good conditions that enable to stop, eat a meal and have a rest.

Wszechnica Polska, that is the VIII and X floor of the Palace of Culture and Science, can be reached most conveniently with use of a lift. Modern, fast, adapted for use by the handicapped - the lifts provide comfortable transport.

Wszechnica Polska’s merits include spacious lecture rooms, available teaching equipment, aesthetic décor of the entire interior, legible signage ensuring comfortable navigation around the School, as well as a spectacular panoramic view on a major part of Warsaw.
